AGC to perform at 2021 Commonwealth Day Service
New Zealand as one of the 54 member states of the Commonwealth, marks the Commonwealth Day Celebration with a multifaith service at the Holy Trinity Cathedral, Parnell, on Sunday 7th March. Members of the Diplomatic Corp, Parliamentarians, City leaders and other dignitaries will be in attendance. A message from HM Queen Elizabeth II, Head of the Commonwealth will be read out during the service.
The Commonwealth Day Service is a day of observance by peoples of the Commonwealth of Nations of their differences, their common ground, what they have achieved together and what they hope to achieve in the future.
The Auckland Girls’ Choir will be singing the National Anthems and performing “Join Our Team” a special composition commissioned in 2014 to celebrate Commonwealth Day in New Zealand.
The Choir, a microcosm of the rich diversity of the City of Auckland, with choristers from over 29 different schools, whose cultural backgrounds represent many different regions of the Commonwealth has an enduring and compelling service tradition of performing in major community and civic events in Auckland.
The service on 7th March begins at 5pm and is open to the public.
