Christmas Music

Kia ora choristers & families, One more rehearsal and one more performance to go! Here's the point at which your individual practice this week will make all the difference to the quality of our Christmas performance. Let's give it our best so we can finish out the year with pride and style. Please make good use of the learning tracks available in this Google drive: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1h5gKANnum0aeLSkKgNfaeJBxORzQfjar?usp=sharing Our full Christmas programme for Dec 15th is below. These pieces must be sung FROM MEMORY:

  • Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas - please put this at the top of your practice list this week - it needs the most work. As promised, here is a video clip of the original version sung in a movie by Judy Garland - have a listen to get a feel for the complex emotional world of this song! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKG5X0QMSWA

  • Summer is A-Coming In

  • Peace, Salaam, Shalom - our collectively-composed lyrics for the melody are below:

  • Verse 1: We believe in peace (x4)

  • Verse 2: Peace belongs here (x4)

  • Verse 3: Peace in every place; peace in every town; peace in every heart; peace in every home.

These pieces we will sing along with the audience. Although you can use a lyric sheet for these songs, please practice these songs as well so you are confident with the words in different verses - especially Good King Wenceslas and Marie te pō.

  • O Come All Ye Faithful

  • Good King Wenceslas

  • Marie te pō/Silent Night

  • Joy to the World

  • We Wish You a Merry Christmas

Melody, Aleena, Nethuli, and Rebecca, please bring your instruments to rehearsal next week. Thank you for your extra practice! With admiration, Ms. Oram.
