Founder: Leonie Lawson MNZM
Mrs. Leonie Lawson MNZM, established the Choir in 1998 and was its Director of Music from the beginning until 2019. She is a longtime Remuera resident, and recipient of the Insignia of a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to music. She has been involved in music, particularly choirs, for more than 40 years and was the Director of Music at the Diocesan School for Girls for more than 35 years. Mrs. Lawson is also an adjudicator at a number of choral contests.
Mrs. Lawson continues to take an active role in the governance of the Choir and serves on the Choir’s Board of Management.
Director of Music: Mrs Christine Treseder-Hallett
Mrs Hallett was appointed the Choir's Director of Music in 2020. She has a passion for building a good solid vocal technique for students and adult singers along with confident performance skills.
Mrs. Hallett has taught music for many years at Primary and Intermediate schools in Auckland, Napier and London, and was the Head of Music specialising in Music Theatre at Mt Albert Grammar School where she organized and directed 8 shows.
She has also taught as an itinerant singing teacher in many Auckland schools preparing students for solo roles in school shows, Cambridge and NCEA levels 1-3 singing exams.
Mrs. Hallett graduated Bachelor of Music from the University of Auckland, and FTCL Voice from Trinity College of Music London, and LRSM of Royal college of Music. She also holds a Diploma of Teaching from Ardmore Teacher’s College. She studied singing with Sister Mary Leo, Beatrice Webster and Patricia Wright.
